Easter in San Miguel de Allende, 2002. The Easter time ritual of the Burning of Judas in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico, in which an effigy of Judas is blown into pieces. These paper mâché 8' tall figures are hung up on the Jardin and blown up in the morning. That year we rented a house next to the man who made them and we could see them standing in the yard as they were made full of gun powder. They are very loud when set off on Easter. It is symbolic of blowing up evil.
